Benefits of Participating

Your college experience does not have to be confined to campus. Through the Shriver Center at UMBC and its co-op/internship program, you have the opportunity to step outside the boundaries of the classroom and experience the real world.

What is an internship?
Internships are usually part-time positions in which you work at least 8 to 10 hours per week. You will gain valuable experience and can choose to receive academic credit.

What is a co-op?
With a co-op, you not only gain experience, but you get paid doing it. For a period of two semesters, you will earn money, gain extensive experience in your field, and make great connections.
