Programs Home

Welcome to the page for the Major Inspiration project. Our mission is to help students find their passions. Our modus operandi is to introduce K-12 students to the different college majors that are out there so that when it comes down to putting down a major on their application, they can make a more informed decision. We want to give students something to be excited about, presenting a real goal and hopefully producing more motivated students at the end. The theory behind this is that if students are doing what they love, they will enjoy their college experience that much more, and they will probably be much better students.

Other programs show kids what kinds of careers are out there. We say "Okay, so you know what you want to do. How do you get there?" We emphasize the life of that intermediate stage to show K-12 students the short-term rewards. With over 70 volunteers, almost all of them current students at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, we provide students a unique look into the journey that will take them to what will hopefully become their careers.
